The ‘Alien: Earth’ burger allowed me to fulfill my dreams of slaying Xenomorphs.
In the days leading up to the release of FX’s Alien: Earth, the excitement has been palpable. FX has embraced this anticipation with a variety of engaging tie-in experiences, including partnerships with places like SoulCycle and Skullcandy headphones. On August 9, they introduced "The Hunt," a delightful series of pop-up events that invited fans to explore containment pods brimming with intriguing alien life and enter fun sweepstakes for themed merchandise.
In this exciting array of products, one particular gem caught my attention: the Alien-themed burger and shake combo at Black Tap, available until August 24. It’s fascinating to think about how the essence of the Alien franchise could be captured in a burger and shake. Rest assured, despite any playful musings about an unexpected Chestburster experience, I can happily report I enjoyed both menu items without any dramatic surprises.
As I enjoyed the Alien: Earth burger, it certainly stood as one of the most adventurous culinary experiences I’ve had.
The burger’s ingredient list is intriguingly flavorful: a juicy beef patty paired with pepper jack cheese, garnished with cilantro, charcoal aioli, and vibrant salsa verde. Crispy onion petals elegantly curl from the burger, reminiscent of spindly legs, adding a whimsical touch. Each bite was delightful, with the salsa verde offering a refreshing kick that complemented the richness of the burger.
While eating this creative concoction, I found myself in a charmingly messy situation. Despite my best efforts, sauce and juices inevitably made their way down my hands, turning the meal into a playful challenge. With the bright green salsa and deep black aioli, I looked down to see my hands splattered with these vivid colors, as if I had just engaged in a spirited encounter with a Xenomorph. In that moment, I realized that the joy of this experience extended beyond the tasty burger itself; it was also about the laughter that arose from the delightful chaos.
On the other hand, the Mountain Dew-flavored milkshake didn’t quite resonate with me. While I appreciate a good shake, this flavor wasn’t to my taste; however, the rich chocolate cake slice atop the shake was a lovely counterpart, evoking the profound darkness of space. The combination brought a sugary uplift that made me feel invincible, almost as if I could face down a Xenomorph myself.
As Alien: Earth prepares to premiere on August 12 at 8 p.m. ET on Hulu and FX, it’s a perfect time to embrace the whimsical and adventurous spirit of this unique culinary experience.
