Apple Intelligence to Introduce GPT-5 on iPhones, Macs, and iPads: Release Timeline Revealed.

GPT-5 is approaching, ready to bring its capabilities to your favorite Apple devices soon. This latest foundational model from OpenAI will integrate seamlessly with Apple Intelligence and Siri upon the roll-out of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26, according to 9to5Mac. This means that the new GPT-5 model will enhance various Apple AI tools, while users will still have the option to enjoy the ChatGPT iOS app as usual. Although exact release dates for these operating system updates remain elusive, they typically emerge around September or October each year, with beta versions currently available. The new iOS, particularly, is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 in September. When the updated iPadOS and macOS launch, GPT-5 will also be accessible through Apple Intelligence and Siri on MacBooks and iPads.

However, it’s essential to keep in mind that some older Apple devices may not support Apple Intelligence.

As for device compatibility, Apple has not yet detailed which products will support GPT-5, but it’s reasonable to assume that any device currently capable of using Apple Intelligence will be suitable. The same goes for iPads, with the exception of the iPad Air, which relies on a mobile chipset; you’ll need an iPad with an A17 Pro chip to utilize Apple Intelligence there.

Although it remains unclear how GPT-5’s integration with Apple Intelligence will function in daily use, at present, Apple Intelligence directs Siri requests to ChatGPT when it can provide a more suitable response. ChatGPT also enhances Writing Tools and visual intelligence features that recognize items in your camera viewfinder. It appears that GPT-5 will further enrich these functions, though the exact extent of its enhancements is yet to be unveiled. ChatGPT also supports Microsoft’s Copilot suite of AI features, and OpenAI maintains direct integration with both Apple and Windows.
