Bob Vylan dropped from European tour following contentious Glastonbury performance.

Bob Vylan Steps Back from Upcoming Gigs in Germany

In the wake of their impactful Glastonbury performance, Bob Vylan is navigating some challenging times following their controversial chant of “death to the IDF.” This moment has sparked a significant conversation around political sentiments, leading to an investigation involving both Glastonbury and the BBC, who expressed their disapproval of the act.

As a result, the band, comprising Bobby and Bobbie Vylan, has chosen to step back from joining Gogol Bordello on their European tour in the coming months. Bobby shared, “Due to logistical complications, we have decided not to join our friends Gogol Bordello on their upcoming European tour. However, we will be heading to Europe in the coming months for both festivals and headlining shows.”

Gogol Bordello elaborated, emphasizing that the decision to not include Bob Vylan was beyond their control. They expressed, “Following Bob Vylan’s Glastonbury performance, their shows with us were cancelled by the promoter and venues in Germany. The choice to remove them from the bill was not ours, and we needed to take a breath to fully understand the situation.”

The band stated that while there was hope to revisit the situation, the logistics involved made it unfeasible at this time. They amicably noted, “We worked diligently together with our friends Bob Vylan to find a solution, but in the end, it didn’t work out.” Gogol Bordello, celebrating diverse perspectives, firmly upholds freedom of speech.

Bob Vylan has also experienced setbacks beyond international tours, as their US visas were revoked ahead of their planned engagements. A senior official remarked, “The U.S. government will not issue visas to those who support terrorism.”

In their first performance since Glastonbury in London, Bobby Vylan encouraged the audience to refrain from any contentious chants, turning instead to a positive message, stating, “Free, free Palestine.” He reflected, “We never imagined that our music would lead to such an important conversation.”

Bobby spoke passionately about the ongoing issues, acknowledging, “What is happening over there is truly heartbreaking. Despite attempts to silence us, our message remains strong.”

During a recent show in Bristol’s Thekla, he further emphasized his dedication, sharing, “I am not just a rabble-rousing troublemaker.” He highlighted his academic achievements, embodying a journey of transformation and resilience.

More European dates are anticipated, and Bob Vylan looks forward to connecting with their audience in meaningful ways.
