‘Eternity’ Trailer: Miles Teller, Elizabeth Olsen, and Callum Turner Ensnared in a Celestial Love Triangle

A24 has courageously entered the realm of love triangles this year with Celine Song’s “Materialists.” However, in the charming upcoming romantic comedy “Eternity,” A24 and writer-director David Freyne offer a new twist on familiar tropes surrounding love triangles.

The film features Miles Teller as Larry, a man who has recently transitioned to the afterlife at the Junction, where souls are given a week to select their eternal destination. Choices range from the vibrant Studio 54 World to the serene Man-Free World, and even the romantic allure of Paris—each accompanied by a companion for eternity.

For Larry, the choice feels clear as he longs to be with his beloved wife, Joan (played by Elizabeth Olsen), who arrives at the Junction shortly after him. Yet, a significant challenge emerges: Joan’s first husband, Luke (portrayed by Callum Turner), is waiting for her in the afterlife. Having passed away early in their marriage, he has patiently awaited her arrival for 67 years. Joan now finds herself at a crossroads: should she choose to spend eternity with her first love or with the man she cherished for decades?

This poignant tale unfolds over a week filled with heartfelt competition for Joan’s affection, which captures the interest of two kind-hearted afterlife coordinators, portrayed by Academy Award winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph and John Early. Their investment is not surprising, as the stakes of eternity are truly meaningful.

“Eternity” will grace the screen at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival and will be making its way to theaters this November.
