The upcoming phase of our Gemini age
For years, we’ve been investing deeply in AI as the best way to enhance Search and all of our products. We’re excited by our progress, such as with our Search Generative Experience, or SGE, which you can explore in Search Labs. AI is now central to two rapidly growing areas of our business: our Cloud and Workspace services and our well-received subscription service, Google One, which is nearing 100 million subscribers.
A New Era of Innovation
In December, we took a significant step on our journey to make AI more beneficial for everyone with the beginning of the Gemini era, setting new standards across various text, image, audio, and video benchmarks. However, Gemini is evolving to encompass more than just models. It supports an entire ecosystem — from the products that billions of people use every day to the APIs and platforms that assist developers and businesses in their innovations.
The largest model, Ultra 1.0, is the first to surpass human experts on MMLU (massive multitask language understanding), which tests knowledge and problem-solving abilities across a combination of 57 subjects, including math, physics, history, law, medicine, and ethics.
Today we’re taking the next step and integrating Ultra into our products for global use.
Introducing Gemini Advanced
Bard has been the ideal way for users to experience our most capable models directly. To better reflect the advanced technology at its core, Bard will now simply be named Gemini. It is accessible in 40 languages on the web and will soon be available through the Gemini app on Android and on the Google app for iOS.
The version featuring Ultra will be branded as Gemini Advanced, a new experience that significantly enhances capabilities in reasoning, following instructions, coding, and creative collaboration. For instance, it can serve as a personal tutor, customized to align with your learning preferences, or act as a creative partner, assisting you in planning a content strategy or developing a business plan.
