‘Haunted Hotel’ Preview: Discover a Cast of Spectral Guests in Netflix’s Animated Comedy
Halloween comes early to Netflix with its upcoming animated series Haunted Hotel, a delightful blend that evokes the essence of The Shining while embracing the warmth of a family sitcom. Created by Rick and Morty writer Matt Roller, the show invites us into the Undervale, a hotel filled not with guests, but with whimsical ghosts. Single mother Katherine (voiced by Eliza Coupe) courageously runs the Undervale, accompanied by her two children, Ben (Skyler Gisondo) and Esther (Natalie Palamides). Katherine has support from her estranged brother Nathan (Will Forte), who, as a gentle specter, shares ideas from his otherworldly perspective, even when they differ from Katherine’s own.
The first trailer for Haunted Hotel introduces an array of the Undervale’s charmingly eerie residents. Among them is Abaddon (Jimmi Simpson), a mischievous demon trapped in the guise of a young Victorian boy. Viewers will also meet a blend of quirky characters, including soapy demons, a friendly zombie, a glowing anglerfish… and a whimsical gathering of spirits. With this magical mix of ectoplasm, Katherine faces the joyful challenge of running a bustling hotel while keeping her children safe from any supernatural shenanigans.
In addition to Roller, Haunted Hotel boasts a talented creative team reminiscent of the brilliance found in Rick and Morty. Dan Harmon and Steve Levy, known for their work on both Rick and Morty and Community, co-executive produce alongside Roller and Chris McKenna, with the talented Erica Hayes serving as supervising director.
Haunted Hotel will be available to enjoy on Netflix starting September 19.
