Nasdaq-listed Chinese herbal company with zero revenue surges 59,000%, surpassing Lululemon in market capitalization.

Regencell Bioscience Holdings, an early-stage bioscience company based in Hong Kong, is attracting a remarkable surge in trading demand despite having no revenue. The company develops traditional Chinese herbal treatments aimed at addressing childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and autism. On Monday, shares of Regencell more than tripled, soaring over 280% after a 38-for-1 stock split that took effect on June 2. By the end of Monday, Regencell, founded in 2014 and trading on Nasdaq under the ticker ‘RGC’ since 2021, had a total market capitalization of $29.7 billion, according to S&P Capital IQ.
The stock continued to rise on Tuesday, gaining 30%. Its impressive year-to-date performance has seen it increase by 59,900% within 2025. Currently valued at $36 billion, Regencell’s market capitalization surpasses that of Lululemon, eBay, and Kraft Heinz, with shares that traded for mere pennies just a year ago.

This surge in Regencell’s stock is another instance of speculative overseas equities gaining attention during the summer trading period. In August 2022, AMTD Digital, a fintech company from Hong Kong, saw a 126% increase, briefly surpassing the market value of Coca-Cola and Bank of America.
Earlier this month, Regencell clarified that the stock split was purely “to enhance liquidity in the market for the company’s ordinary shares and make the shares more accessible to investors.” It’s important to note that stock splits do not fundamentally change a company’s business structure.
Regencell’s spike also occurred amidst renewed interest in alternative medicines following the appointment of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in February. Kennedy, a noted vaccine skeptic, has taken measures that discourage routine immunizations in the U.S., including the dismissal of members from a CDC advisory panel on vaccines.
The stock often experiences significant one-day fluctuations; for instance, shares increased by about 30% on March 21, only to drop by 30% the next trading day.
Obscure treatments, zero revenue
Despite the stock’s volatility, little is known about the effectiveness and commercialization of Regencell’s treatments for ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorders. The company’s focus is on a proprietary Traditional Chinese Medicine formula developed in collaboration with TCM practitioner Sik-Kee Au, who is the father of Regencell’s CEO, Yat-Gai Au. As of the latest data, the CEO holds 86.24% of the total outstanding shares.
Regencell’s product candidates involve three liquid-based, orally-taken TCM formulas that claim to address mild, moderate, and severe conditions, featuring natural ingredients like “detoxication herbs,” blood circulation herbs, and digestion herbs. The company’s website states, “These TCM formulas form the basis of our TCM product candidates, which we intend to develop and commercialize for the treatment of ADHD and ASD.”
In its most recent annual report filed last October, Regencell disclosed that it had not generated any revenue or sought any regulatory approvals for its TCM formulas. The company reported net losses totaling $4.36 million and $6.06 million for the fiscal years ending June 2024 and 2023, respectively. The report highlighted, “We have not generated revenue from any TCM formula candidates or applied for any regulatory approvals and may never be profitable.”
To date, Regencell has not publicly addressed requests for comment.
The company’s latest patient case study, dated November 15, 2023, reported that 28 patients were treated over three months in a second efficacy trial, demonstrating improvements in ADHD and ASD symptoms, according to information available on its website. Earlier, Regencell announced in a 2021 release that it had treated a dozen patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases, using a recognized proprietary cold and flu TCM formula. Subsequent to reported improvements, Regencell formed a joint venture with Honor Epic Enterprises Limited in September 2021 to expand on testing and commercialization in Southeast Asian nations.
Online buzz
The stock has garnered limited discussion on social media in recent years, although comments reflect a mix of enthusiasm and skepticism among retail traders. One user on a trading forum noted that Regencell is “trading like a meme coin,” with fluctuations that prompted a quick drop after initial purchases. Others have expressed sentiments ranging from laughter at the company description to a recognition of Regencell as “the stock to watch” following its May spike amid a lack of official news or catalysts.
Recent discussions on platforms like LinkedIn and X highlight a spectrum of reactions, with some users nominating Regencell for notable mention due to its unconventional trading patterns and lack of substantive news.
