Josh Johnson Discusses Hosting the ‘Daily Show’ with Stephen Colbert
Josh Johnson recently joined Stephen Colbert on Wednesday for his first interview on The Late Show, and it was a truly delightful conversation between two beloved late-night hosts. During their chat, Johnson, the host of The Daily Show, shared his experiences and the unique pressures of being the newest addition to a talented lineup that includes Jon Stewart, Ronny Chieng, Desi Lydic, Jordan Klepper, and Michael Kosta.
He offered a thoughtful analogy: “When it comes to hosting, it’s so fun, and everyone is so supportive, but it is intimidating. You look at something like The Daily Show, and it feels like you are borrowing your friend’s car to drive. You just want to give the keys back and be able to smile at them, like, the car is just like you left it. There’s no blood on the front grill or anything. I didn’t hit anything. I didn’t ruin it. I didn’t total it.”
Join in to enjoy the conversation around the Daily Show and Johnson’s exciting announcement of his new HBO comedy special, Symphony, set to release on May 22. The chat also includes an entertaining story involving brass knuckles, the TSA, and toe separators.
