The Lonely Island disclose that Justin Timberlake wasn’t the vocalist on their most popular track.

The Lonely Island has just revealed an interesting truth about one of their most popular tracks, clarifying that Justin Timberlake did not contribute to the final version of the song.

The comedy trio, consisting of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, released Jizz In My Pants in December 2008, premiering the music video during a segment on SNL.

In the video, the Cry Me A River artist made a cameo alongside Molly Simms and Jamie Lynn-Sigler. For years, many believed his vocals could be heard in the final cut of the hit. However, in a recent episode of the Lonely Island and Seth Meyers podcast, they discussed the racy song and the confusion surrounding his involvement.

“Timberlake helped us so much. I remember people online saying, ‘Timberlake’s singing with them at the end,’ because they probably thought we couldn’t possibly have made it sound [good],” Akiva recalled.

“I think that’s just Andy. I’m not even sure I’m singing it,” Jorma chimed in, to which Andy interjected, “You’re not.”

“It’s just Andy,” his bandmate continued. “But they just didn’t think we had the know-how to make it sound this good – which is right, in a way, because [Justin’s] the one that taught us.”

Justin had previously collaborated with the Lonely Island on D**k In A Box in 2006, making the Jizz In My Pants cameo a natural fit. The trio shared that they couldn’t quite remember how his role as a grocery store janitor came about, but praised how his name connected to the song provided it with a significant boost.

“He did us a huge solid,” Andy said. “I remember when this video aired, and we were still like, ‘I’m going to see every single thing that got written about us on the internet. I’m going to look at everything.’ And all the headlines were about Justin.

“It got so much more attention … that’s how red hot he was.”

“The fact that he did it just to put his stamp on it, it’s hard to measure how significant it is,” Akiva agreed. “It gave it a huge bump. It helped it tremendously.”

Justin went on to collaborate with the group on Motherlover and 3-Way (The Golden Rule), and even appeared in their comedic film, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.

They have also worked with Akon, Lady Gaga, Adam Levine, Robyn, and Kendrick Lamar over the years.

Several of their hits were revisited in February for SNL50: The Homecoming Concert as part of SNL’s 50-year anniversary.

Andy took to the stage with Lady Gaga herself, quipping that Justin wasn’t there “to do his parts.”

“Andy, Don’t be a b***h. I’ll do it with you,” the Oscar-winner responded, before they performed a duet of D**k In A Box for the star-studded crowd.
