One of the best latter-day Wii U games was a little futuristic racer called Fast Racing Neo. This evolved into one of the best Switch 1 launch titles, now upgraded as Fast RMX. Developer Shin’en is back with a highly anticipated sequel that promises new ideas while maintaining the same technical excellence as its predecessors. Shin’en hasn’t released much information about Fast Fusion yet, other than it will be available at launch for $14.99. It captures the essence of an arcade-style racing game, featuring stunning visuals, split-screen and online multiplayer, and a unique car fusion system that sets it apart from the competition. Plus, it’s just $15.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut

The first port of an old game on this list traces back to the PlayStation 3. Yakuza 0 has made its rounds but hasn’t appeared on a Nintendo platform before. If you’re a loyal Nintendo player who hasn’t tried it yet, consider it a priority.
The Switch 2 version offers some bonuses, including new English voice acting and an unusual multiplayer fighting mode, but Yakuza 0 could have been released as-is, and that would have sufficed. It’s an unconventional action-adventure game set in a period-accurate rendition of urban Japan’s red-light district in the late 1980s. Along with its enjoyable and often intense combat, Yakuza 0 includes interactive karaoke, mahjong, and a variety of cultural experiences. It also features a compelling story with two excellent protagonists, making it the perfect starting point for newcomers to the Yakuza series.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition

The Switch 2 port of Cyberpunk 2077 may serve as a benchmark for its technical capabilities, making it compelling to a lot of players. This game had to be removed from the PlayStation store shortly after its 2020 launch due to the poor performance of its PS4 version, and the Switch 2’s power aligns closely with that level. However, developer CD Projekt Red has utilized the years to refine Cyberpunk, which is currently in an excellent state. With that, along with the impressive Switch 1 port of The Witcher 3, many players may experience Cyberpunk for the first time on Switch 2 with a positive experience.
Deltarune

In 2015, indie developer Toby Fox captivated audiences with a pixel-based RPG called Undertale. Following that success, Fox introduced Deltarune, an expanded sequel that features different combat and an episodic release but retains the same quirky humor and catchy music.
The first two chapters of Deltarune have been available for some time, and chapters 3 and 4 (in a package that includes all of them) will be released at launch with Switch 2. If you’ve been a fan of the Deltarune series, it’s a perfect time to continue on Switch 2. If not, this might be a good starting point as these games need to be experienced to be fully appreciated.
Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess

Our final game is another port, though the original just launched in 2024 and somewhat slipped under the radar on other consoles. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is unique, blending third-person hack-and-slash action with strategic tower defense gameplay. It’s visually impressive and enjoyable to play, making it an exciting addition for players who missed it the first time around.
Honorable Mention: Donkey Kong Bonanza
If none of these games pique your interest, keep an eye out for Donkey Kong Bonanza, which is a non-launch Switch 2 title. DK’s first leading role in a 3D platformer in 25 years features a revamped character design and a unique terrain destruction system that allows players to alter the entire level. You’ll have to wait a little longer for it, as Bananza is set to release on July 17.
