What is Connections Sports Edition?

The NYT’s latest daily word game has launched in association with The Athletic, the New York Times property that covers sports. Connections can be played on both web browsers and mobile devices, requiring players to group four words that share something in common.

Each puzzle features 16 words, which are divided into four categories. These categories could include anything from book titles to country names, and while multiple words may seem to fit together, there’s only one correct answer. If a player correctly identifies all four words in a set, those words are removed from the board. However, incorrect guesses will count as mistakes—players are allowed up to four mistakes before the game concludes.

Players also have the option to rearrange and shuffle the board to make spotting connections easier. Each group is color-coded, with yellow representing the easiest level, followed by green, blue, and purple. Similar to Wordle, you can share your results with friends on social media.
