Perplexity has launched its voice assistant on iOS devices.

Perplexity’s voice assistant has made its debut on Apple devices. The announcement came from the San Francisco-based company, which is backed by Nvidia and Jeff Bezos, via a post on X on Wednesday. The AI search engine’s iOS app now features the ability to engage in spoken conversations with the assistant. The Android version of the app was launched in January and supports 15 languages.

The voice assistant extends its functionality beyond the app itself, allowing users to book tables at restaurants, arrange rideshares, obtain directions, check their calendars, play music, or draft and send emails.

You can access this feature within the Perplexity iOS app by locating the search bar at the bottom of the screen next to the “Ask anything” option. By tapping this, you will be prompted to allow the app to access the microphone so you can begin chatting.

Upon testing, I asked Perplexity to locate the best coffee shops nearby, and it generated a map of “highly rated” cafes in London while reading out the options. When inquiring about the sources of this information, Perplexity stated, “A combination of sources including user ratings and reviews to highlight popular spots.”

Perplexity’s voice assistant arrives on iOS at a time when competitors such as Google’s Gemini Live, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Voice Mode, and AI startup Sesame are also focused on providing seamless spoken interactions with multimodal AI assistants. This release follows closely after Perplexity’s introduction of its own Deep Research tool powered by a version of DeepSeek R1.
