River Tiber’s Tiny Desk performance is a beautiful tapestry of sound that invites listeners to pause and reflect. It may come as a gentle surprise to some, as in the studio, he often showcases his talents as a solo artist. In this intimate space, the Toronto native effortlessly moves between the piano, drums, bass, and trombone, while his friends Justin Nozuka, Dan Only, and John Mavro join in the musical exploration, creating a harmonious atmosphere that transcends the confines of the setting.

Since discovering River Tiber on Kaytranada’s 2016 debut album, 99.9%, his presence has carried an air of mystery, enhanced by out-of-focus portraits on album covers and social media. This mystique beautifully complements his mesmerizing music. When he stepped into the Tiny Desk, it felt like a special moment—a chance to connect with the artist. Despite his enigmatic aura, he has collaborated with renowned names such as Travis Scott and Post Malone, shining a light on his undeniable talent.

During the performance, he shares “Hypnotized,” a soulful piece that Kendrick Lamar sampled, along with other highlights from his latest album, Dreaming Eyes. Each note resonates with a sense of serenity, inviting listeners into a tranquil space of sound and mindfulness.
