An advanced, AI-enhanced Siri will be absent from WWDC 2025.

Apple’s new and AI-improved Siri, showcased at last year’s WWDC, still isn’t ready, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. “Significant upgrades to Siri—including the ones promised nearly a year ago—are unlikely to be discussed much and are still months away from shipping,” said Gurman in an in-depth report detailing Apple leadership’s reported failures to recognize the significance of generative AI for consumer tech products and the subsequent issues in rolling out a smarter Siri driven by powerful LLMs and onscreen awareness.

At Apple’s WWDC 2025, which is less than a month away on June 9, the event will reportedly highlight “various non-AI software upgrades,” including an interface design overhaul to make the operating systems for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac more in the style of the Vision Pro, said Gurman.

Reports of Siri trouble have been brewing for some time. Apple’s promise of a more personalized and context-aware version of the voice assistant hasn’t yet come to fruition; instead, we’ve seen minor updates such as the ability to type to Siri, and even instances of Siri’s performance declining. Additionally, Apple pulled a commercial featuring actor Bella Ramsey that showcased Siri answering who they had lunch with by pulling up relevant calendar details due to accusations of false advertising. Gurman reports that Apple is working on a Siri-specific LLM, internally dubbed “LLM Siri,” which will reportedly resolve many of the underlying infrastructure issues. Until then, expectations for Siri at this year’s WWDC should be tempered.
