We’ve been eagerly anticipating a Tiny Desk performance from Wet Leg ever since the Isle of Wight band captivated us with their 2021 single “Chaise Longue.” This enchanting song, much like the rest of their work, balances an understated charm with lively energy. When we finally welcomed Wet Leg into our space to record this performance, we were delighted by the playful spirit they brought along, as well as the thoughtful curation of their set. However, fans might find it refreshing to discover how much Wet Leg embraces their more subtle side.

In this performance, you won’t hear “Chaise Longue” or “Catch These Fists,” the exciting first single from their upcoming album, moisturizer. Instead, lead singer Rhian Teasdale and the rest of the band chose to highlight the album’s core themes: the joy of being in love and the bliss that accompanies it.

This is not to say that the set lacks energy or passion. The band opens with “CPR,” a captivating exploration of obsession and the ways unchecked love can unwound us, followed by a preview of the soon-to-be-released “mangetout” from moisturizer. They also treat us to the uplifting, sunny-day anthem “davina mccall,” showcasing Teasdale’s beautiful voice. The performance closes with another unreleased track from moisturizer—one that the band shares has never been performed live before—an ethereal, dreamy homage to the enduring power of love titled “11:21.”
